We took some lovely and very informative field trips to our key growers this month with some enthusiastic Lekkernassûh participants and staff. On 7 May 2025 we visited Kievit in Katwijk and on 10 May we visited WIJdehorst and Bramenhorst in Wassenaar. During these visits, we were able to admire the beautiful crops that we will get in the package in the coming weeks. We also got a lot of very interesting information from the enthusiastic growers about the challenges and eventual beautiful results of organic farming.
May 7th Kievit
Wednesday, 7 May, a group went to the Kievit in Katwijk where we, as Lekkernassuh, get most of our involvement. Sebas set up the Kievit 29 years ago. Despite many setbacks and learning effects, he was one of the first organic farmers to build up this beautiful sustainable organisation through his gigantic energy. De Kievit is now the largest party in the Netherlands that makes its own packages with the most and very varied range of vegetables and herbs from its own land. In short, an absolute forerunner in the food transition and therefore very fitting for Lekkernassûh. They now employ around 25 permanent staff who, in addition to delivering to Lekkernassûh, deliver almost 4,000 organic fruit and vegetable packages with other organic produce to the door every week.

May 10th WIJdehorst and Bramenhorst
Saturday 10 May saw a tour of the growers of the WIJdehorst and adjacent Bramenhorst in Wassenaar. Through the organisation Land van Ons, the WIJdehorst has been shaping its plot since last year and thus supplying Lekkernassûh. Besides growing vegetables and herbs, they are also betting on an organic picking flower garden, course location and courses on organic cultivation and related topics, food forest, future tea and catering opportunity, etc.
The Bramenhorst has been supplying Lekkernassûh for almost 9 years and often grows its own specific crops that other growers do not offer such as mizuna, rhubarb, icicle radish, runner beans, etc.

For both growers and participants of these very inspiring excursions, the conclusion was that we can do this more often.
